Peter Pininski

At its annual lunch after the Culloden Memorial Service, the Clan Association had an inspiring speaker in Peter Pininski. Peter told of his meticulous research through the Ftrench and Polish archives to identify the fact that he was a direct descendant of Charles Edward Stuart's daughter Charlotte. Charlotte in a secret relationship with Ferdinand de Rohan who was an archbishop and a member of one of the greatest families in France gave birth to two daughters and a son. Only the middle child, Marie Victoire de Rohan had a child and he was Antime, Chevalier de Nikorowitz (1806-1852). He married the daughter of an Austrian army officer and his daughter married Count Leonard Pininski (1824-1886). Peter is a great-great grandson of Count Leonard. In the next blog I will summarise Peter's connection with the Camerons. The picture shows Peter addressing the Clan Association at the Cawdor Tavern on Saturday, 19th April 2008.

Hello Allan,

Has Mr Pininski truly managed to prove his connection to Charlotte Stuart?

Thank you,

I have listened to Peter and read his book - "The Stuarts' last Secret". He has carefully researched all the evidence and it is a convincing argument. However, without a DNA trail it might be difficult to prove incontrovertibly, and since Peter' line came through the female side, this creates a greater challenge.

Thank you. That's very interesting...

I did see a lock of Bonnie Prince Charlie's hair at Linlithgow Palace. Could he perhaps use it to determine via a DNA test I wonder? Doubt HRH would be very amused though... :o)

Just for the record, I also have Cameron blood in me, though my Scottish side of the family is Stuart/Stewart, descended from the 2nd son of the 5th Lord of the Stewarts of Appin, Duncan Stewart, by the name of John Stewart.

As you may have noticed, my father gave me my name after Bonnie Prince Charlie, so I have always taken an interest in his story. So much so that I have written a book under the title "Descendant of Kings", telling his story and their associations to my own, which will be available on Amazon.com now in August.

All the best, and thank you again for your reply.

Charles

Thank you for the reply...

Having been christened with the same name as Bonnie Prince Charlie, I have always had an interest in his life, so much so that I have just had a book published that tells his story and some possible associations between his life and my own:

If and when you do have the Prince's DNA, I too would like a test as we have a legend of descent that has survived in 4 lines of the family in 3 different continents with little or no contact until internet times. Extensive research completely supports the family legend but DNA would absolutely confirm it.

I might add there are said to be a few locks of the Prince's hair ~ it might be worth testing them against each other to find the genuine profile.

Sadly that would be wrong! But don't fret there is a male line heir! John of Rohan also descended from Charlotte Stuart is the rightful heir to the throne of the Stuarts! The father of Charlotte's son was not Ferdinand but his older Brother Prince Jules, proven with legal filings in France, Prince Charles Edward Stuart was named Count d'Roehanstart by Napoleon Himself. During the Honeymoon to the US with his second bride Louisa Constance Smith the couple had a daughter in Georgia and Baptised by the Bishop in South Carolina(also documented)Princess Caroline Adelaide Rohan, but mother died 6 days after giving birth so she was left in America With Smith relatives while the Count returned to Scotland alone, this protected the Princess who married Joshua Layton and gave birth to several children, including the eldest Prince Alfred Joshua Layton, who fathered Prince Prince Madison I Layton, who fathered Madison II Layton, who fathered Prince Michael Layton, who fathered Prince John Layton the current heir who fathered his Prince Jacob Layton the heir apparent. Not only proven with legal documentation but DNA has also been proven to King James II and VII by matching to known living descendants of the King.

Sorry, John, but could you clarify further? Having been baptised by my father with the name Charles Edward Stuart Boden, I have always taken a very big interest in the life of Bonnie Prince Charlie, to the point of having written a book in Portuguese here in Brazil about his life and the Jacobite Uprising, but have never encountered this info before. I am aware of Mr Pininski's research and claim, but this is the 1st time I have heard of the connection you mention. It was Charlotte's son who received the title of Count Rohenstart, and not Prince Charles Stuart, isn't that right? As far as I knew, Count Rohenstart had left no heirs...

For those who might be able to believe in the such, I have had inumerous events throughout my life that have associated mine with that of Prince Charles Edward Stuart, starting with my name and leading to my finding that the "Stuart" of my maternal family name leads to Robert Stuart, 1st Earl of Orkney, "illegitimate" son of Queen Mary Stuart's father, King James V. These connections, throughout my lifetime, have been so numerous and so frequent that they have led me to believe in reincarnation...

DNA extracted from BPC's hair would be pretty nigh useless in identifying possible descendants of his daughter Charlotte. He didn't pass his Y chromosome to her and she got her mitochondrial DNA from her mother. Peter Pininksi would have neither.
