THE OAK TREE - A SYMBOL OF SOLIDITY

At the last Clan Cameron Rally at Achnacarry an oak tree was planted Quercus Rubrus. Not only is the oak the badge of the Clan Cameron but it is also symbolic of something which has withstood the test of time. Indeed the parallel with the Clan Cameron and the oak are clear. The clan had its early beginnings as an amalgamation of tribes around that area of Scotland which is now regarded as its heartland. From there, Camerons have spread like the branches of the oak tree to all corners of the world.

Please advise me as to the appropriate attire to wear so as to properly represent the Clan Cameron as a Solo Piper. I have no Military background and am the son of Allan R. Cameron, cousin of Angus Cameron (Membership Secretary). Any adice would be GREATLY appreciated. James (Jim) Cameron CameronJim@earthlink.net

Good to hear from you Jim. I have been on holiday and only returned last night. I suppose the answer to your query depends on the situation. An informal day-time event, I would wear a day jacket and self colour or tartan or Clan Cameron tie. An evening event you could wear a Prince Charlie or Argyll Jacket with bow-tie. On both occasions, a sgian dhu in your stocking, possibly a Blamoral or Glengarry hat. An alternative to the kilt is tartan trews. I hope that helps.
